Senior Lieutenant general Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and vice Chair of the general Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, has been appointed as head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Education.
The Politburo’s Decision No. 06 on the appointment was announced at a meeting in Hanoi this morning, February 19. The decision was handed to Nghia by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Vo Van Thuong, who is also Nghia’s predecessor.
At the first meeting of the 13th Party Central Committee earlier this year, Nghia was re-elected to the committee’s Secretariat.
Nguyen Trong Nghia was born in Tan Dong Commune, Go Cong Dong District, Tien Giang Province on March 6, 1962.
He used to serve as vice chair of the Political Department of Military Region 7, Political Commissar of Army Corps 4, vice Chair of the general Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, member of the Party Central Committee in the 12th and 13th tenures and deputy of the 14th-tenure National Assembly.
